How to Stay Healthy While Staying Home

With everything going on in the world today, many of us are spending more time at home. You may have found yourself becoming the teacher, chef, and parent in your household. Maybe you are working from home now and struggling to find some normalcy in the day.

It can be difficult to keep up with a healthy lifestyle when your gym is closed. During these uncertain times, it can be easy to spend more time on the couch, watching the news and Netflix, and slowly fall out of a daily workout routine. We may be spending more time at home, but we can still find ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

We’ve shared our favorite positive habits you can incorporate into your new daily routine to stay active, boost your immune system, and keep momentum toward reaching your wellness goals.

Incorporate Home Workouts

One benefit of spending more time at home is the flexibility in your daily routine. Take a look at your schedule. Where can you squeeze in a few minutes for a home workout? A great workout doesn’t need to be long to be effective. As long as your heart rate increases, you will receive fat and calorie-burning benefits! Include Your Kids in Your Workout

The pools may be closed, but there are still many ways to incorporate fun activities your kids will enjoy. After all, staying active isn’t just for mom and dad! Here are some of our favorite fun (and free!) ways the entire family can spend time together:

  • Take the dog for a walk
  • Play frisbee outside in the sunshine (hello Vitamin D!)
  • Go for a bike ride or roller skate adventure
  • Create a floral arrangement with your outdoor blooms
  • Play ball in the backyard
  • Grab your sidewalk chalk and create a driveway mural
  • Have a dinner cooking contest
  • Turn on the tunes and have a dance party

Plan Healthy Meals

Are you trying your best to avoid the grocery store? No problem! Now is the time to get creative in the kitchen and incorporate your favorite canned goods and frozen foods. With the kids out of school, busy workdays, and daily household chores, keep your meals simple this summer.
